Dr. Khan earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree with honours and spent his first years in busy multi-doctor practices, where he learned exactly which parts of the experience patients dislike most — being rushed, being talked over, and being asked to take time off work for something that could have been done on a Saturday.
His clinical interests sit where dentistry gets difficult: implant surgery, full-mouth restorative work and occlusion — the study of how teeth actually meet. That means he takes on the complex cases many general practices refer out, and he does the restoration himself so there is one person accountable for the finished result.
On how he practises
“The thing patients most often thank me for is telling them they do not need anything. That is not modesty, it is the whole job. If I can show you a photograph and you can see for yourself why a tooth needs work, you will make a good decision. If I cannot show you, I probably should not be drilling it.”
Outside the studio
Dr. Khan lives in Mansfield, consults in English, Urdu and Spanish, and spends most of his weekday mornings either at the gym or reading case write-ups he will inevitably want to try. He shares cases and patient education on Instagram at @dromairkhan.
